A FEW THOUGHTS FROM SOME OF OUR WONDERFUL STUDENTS...
"There is a spiritual vibe that is very pleasant without being in-your-face. The asana practice leaves you feeling mentally blissed out and physically energized."
"It was the first time i had understood why my friends "converted" to yoga from working out at the gym. I had previously thought it was too "crunchy granola" and the people who practiced it with such dedication , at least the people I was encountering, were jumping on the bandwagon of the latest fitness trend. I also believed that if you were going to work out,if you were motivated to finally move and do something active, that yoga didn't count as real exercise. The holding of the poses, the chanting....whenever I did it I felt like a phoney. With Sonic Yoga my longheld opinions were radically reversed. It was certainly energetic, I most certainly felt like I had done a lot of aerobic work while at the same time I felt very stretched out and limber. I felt great. I felt like I had accomplished something, I exercised and had fun. Those two words never used to go together." -Erin F-
"I am so happy to have found a great yoga studio in midtown -- and I feel very lucky it is fairly priced and offers better classes than many other studios I have tried in NYC. I recently moved from Boston/Cambridge where I was spoiled to study at Baron Baptiste's studios. I visited NYC frequently and tried many different studios, but have been surprised and disappointed to find expensive classes, cold studios and uninspiring instructors. I have taken classes with Gautham, Lauren and Jonathan and have loved every one of them! I also enjoy seeing the studio grow and I look forward to more classes! I don't think you can improve on the substance of your yoga classes! They are releasing, inspiring, energizing and relaxing at the same time -- exactly the total yoga bliss we seek each class, the yin and yang, balance. Thank you very much and namaste!"
"I've always been interested in practicing yoga but was too intimated. My company moved to the area in May and I decided that your Beginner's class would be the perfect way to begin. It went so well I signed on for the "big kid's class" and have not regretted it." -Fran P-
"The sonic yoga experience has helped me lose (so far) about 30lbs. I would like to encourage others to keep going, to continue chalenging themselves and to keep strugling with their practice, their weight loss, and thier lives." -Eric R-
"Many yoga places are either over-the-top spiritual or into extreme power 1,000 degree yoga. Sonic is the perfect balance of a great workout and a calming, peaceful place to be. Sonic doesn't take itself so seriously that you can't laugh out loud if something funny happens in class, but it's still got just enough zen mellowness to make it very satisfying." -Jennifer S-
"The sonic yogini. Lauren's classes are like dessert. Rich, cool, and sweet! Her flow is deeply inspired by a yoga lifestyle and incorporates strength building asana, cleansing kriyas, beautiful vinyasas, all in her own unique flair! Her presence in class is so in the moment. Class with Lauren is a joyful celebration. Always a journey. A journey inspired by sweet rhythms, beautiful chants and endless possibility. She empowers students to take bold chances and practice from the soul. She's awesome."
"I came to Sonic originally at a friend's suggestion to try Jon's class. Now I feel like a fixture at the studio. Jonathan's warmth, expertise and kindness have helped me realze my shortcomings and evolve as a yogi and even more so as a person. His classes are amazing. His humor permeates even while we are working our butts off! Anyday, anytime I am in his class." - Sarena K-
"Truth. Expression. Heat. Laughter. Fun. Jonathan's flow is an exciting and energy building practice. I love the way Jonathan encourages students to work from wherever they are at any given time. He offers challenging and unconventional ideas and is always human (and humorous). His adjustments are super and he creates a flow that is inspired by music, and builds not only balance, strength and flexibility, but also character. His passion for teaching shines through and he invites us to live our own lives passionately." - |
